A major step forward in sustainable public transport has recently been achieved in Western Australia with the unveiling of the country’s first fully electric articulated bus.

The 18-metre vehicle, developed by Volvo Bus Australia and bodied locally by Volgren, represents a significant milestone in the evolution of Australia’s public transport network. Designed to carry more than 100 passengers, the new bus will help increase capacity on some of Perth’s busiest routes while supporting the transition towards a cleaner, zero-emission fleet.

This new generation of buses is part of a broader initiative in Western Australia to gradually replace diesel and natural gas vehicles with fully electric alternatives. With a growing number of electric buses already operating and more entering service each month, the introduction of articulated electric buses marks the next phase in delivering high-capacity, environmentally responsible transport solutions.

Ventura is proud to be part of this landmark project. Our Inward Gliding door systems have been integrated into the vehicle, playing a key role in ensuring safe, reliable and efficient passenger flow. As a critical component of any public transport vehicle, door technology contributes not only to accessibility and comfort, but also to overall operational performance.

Our involvement in this project highlights Ventura’s position as a trusted partner within the global bus industry. By contributing to an innovative platform such as the Volvo BZL Electric Articulated, we continue to support manufacturers and operators in meeting the demands of modern urban mobility.

As electric fleets continue to expand worldwide, Ventura remains committed to developing and supplying solutions that meet the evolving needs of the market. We are proud to see our products contributing to pioneering projects such as this Australian-first and look forward to supporting many more initiatives that drive the future of public transport.
